Sustainable Food Production: The Contribution of Genome Editing in Livestock
نویسندگان
چکیده
The growing demand for animal source foods to feed people has been pushing the livestock industry increase productivity, a tendency that will continue throughout this century. challenge coming years is food supply ensure equity in access high quality food, while maintaining global sustainability including combating climate change, avoiding deforestation, and conserving biodiversity, as well ensuring health welfare. question is, how do we produce more with less? Classical methods enhance productivity based on improvement of health, nutrition, genetics, reproductive technologies management have made important contributions; however, not going be enough thus disruptive approaches are required. Genome editing CRISPR may powerful contributor transformation. This article focused scope perspectives application technology, which includes improving production traits, enhancing welfare through adaptation resilience, conferring resistance infectious diseases, suppressing pests invasive species threaten livestock. main advantages concerns should overcome by science, policy discussed aim technology can make real contribution our collective future. review part special issue “Genome Editing Animal Systems Support Sustainable Farming Pest Control”.

The Pattern of Linkage Disequilibrium in Livestock Genome
Linkage disequilibrium (LD) is bases of genomic selection, genomic marker imputation, marker assisted selection (MAS), quantitative trait loci (QTL) mapping, parentage testing and whole genome association studies. The Particular alleles at closed loci have a tendency to be co-inherited. In linked loci this pattern leads to association between alleles in population which is known as LD. Two metr...

this thesis aims to adduce an unmitigated and comprehensive explication concerning the relationship of three significant elements of fiction: setting, chracter and theme. my research is basically placed on two outstanding novels of the 19th century: emily brontes wuthering heights and thomas hardys return of the native. my endeavour lies in studying the correlation among the three above-mention...

This study examines the prospects for strong growth in the supply and demand for animal products worldwide, especially in developing countries, where 80% of the world's population lives. Based on scientific publications, statistics and field observations, it reviews greenhouse gas emission levels from livestock, the ability of ruminant livestock systems to sequester carbon and the capacity of t...
متن کاملLivestock and global change: emerging issues for sustainable food systems.
The global food system is experiencing profound changes as a result of anthropogenic pressures. The ever-increasing human population (more than 9 billion by 2050), together with changes in consumption patterns (i.e., increasing demand for livestock products) caused by urbanization, increasing incomes, and nutritional and environmental concerns, is shaping what we eat, who eats, and how much, mo...

Nigeria is one of the most malnourished and hunger ridden in the league of developing countries; according to reports of Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) of United Nations estimated daily animal protein intake for developing countries averaged at 4.5 g/head/day at the beginning of this century which has hardly risen to 10 g/head/day into the second decade of the century in Nigeria. This...
